'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers

We spent the day coloring for a special holiday this weekend. It's always nice to be able to tie in a book with an activity and this book was an easy choice for today. This New York Times bestseller by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by the incredible Oliver Jeffers is a bookshelf staple.

In "The Day the Crayons Quit" Duncan finds a stack of letters addressed to him. Each letter is from one of his crayons voicing their concerns. From black crayon who dreams of being more than just an outline to red crayon who is tired of working holidays, your kids will get a kick out of their hilarious gripes. Of course Duncan wants his crayons to be happy so he finds a creative way to please them all. It's a fun book that's great for practicing colors.
