'The Boy and the Airplane' by Mark Pett

The Boy and the Airplane by Mark Pett

This wordless picture book about a boy who loses his cherished toy airplane offers simple, muted illustrations that leave us with quite a bit to talk and think about. "The Boy and the Airplane" is about patience, persistence, long awaited rewards, out of the box thinking, and giving. That's quite a bit to cover without any words but Mark Pett brilliantly achieves it.

We chose to buy this book because our toddler currently loves playing with airplanes and pointing them out as they fly above. The simplicity of the illustrations teamed with the more complex message really make this book a wonderful choice at any age.

For an extra bit of sweetness added to this already lovable book, the illustrator dedicated it to his wife, "who was worth the wait." Awe ❤️😍
