'Love You Forever' By Robert Munsch and Sheila McGraw
You know the saying "books are portable magic?" Well, this one is a portable personal trainer.
A friend asked that I share "Love You Forever" because it's a real "tear-jerker" in her home. I said of course because
A) I really love getting recommendations from others about their favorite books. If you want to share yours, feel free to contact me via the link in our bio.
And
B) We love this one for a very different reason... We are usually a ball of laughter at the end and I lose at least a few pounds. You see, this touching story really is moving (and can get you moving!). It's about a mother who through every stage of her son's life cradles him and sings a loving song until she is too old and sick to do so. Her son then picks her up, cradles and sings to her before returning home to begin the cycle again with his brand new daughter.
We take the text pretty literally so during this book I pick my son up and rock him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, all the times Robert Munsch's words say to. My son adores it, hides and giggles in anticipation of the next time he'll be picked up, and I get a pretty intense workout in that evening. When we finish a reading, he always hands the book back to me for another time. I call these "reps." 5 reps a night for a week and your arms will put Michelle Obama to shame!
