'The Dark' by Lemony Snicket and Jon Klassen

After visiting the bookstore yesterday, it's clear the spookiest time of year is coming up fast! What are your favorite books about things that go bump in the night? This is one of ours...

"The Dark" by Lemony Snicket and illustrated by Jon Klassen tells the story of a young boy named Laszlo who, like all of us, lives with the dark. He visits the dark in its room, the basement, in an attempt to avoid the dark visiting him in his room. One night, though, the dark fills Laszlo's room. It beckons him to he basement and explains why Laszlo should not be fearful of it. After his friendly encounter with the dark, Laszlo continues living with it, but is no longer afraid of the dark. "...and without the dark, everything would be light, and you would never know if you needed a light bulb."
