'ABC See, Hear, Do' by Stefanie Hohl

Happy National Reading Month! I'm so excited to share with you this awesome book by Stefanie Hohl, M.E.d, a mother of five who, through teaching preschool, homeschooling, and running storytime at a local bookstore, developed an ingenious method for teaching children to read.

'ABC See, Hear, Do' by Stefanie Hohl

Her picture book, 'ABC See, Hear, Do,' uses visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles to teach phonemic awareness. Here's how the book works: there is a picture of an animal that begins with the sound we are using. Mmmm will have a picture of a monkey, for example. Then, we add a motion to help us remember the sound. For mmmmm we rub our bellies while making the noise. We work in groups of four different letters. Once we have the visual of the animal for the sound of the letter and motion down, then we string the letters together to create simple words like CAT or MAT. When we get to the page where we form the words, under each letter is the visual cue to help us remember the sound and corresponding motion of each letter. String the sounds together faster and faster until it sounds like the word. We move on to another four letters eventually making our way through the alphabet! This book is ideal for ages 2-6. Happy Reading!!! 📚❤️📚❤️📚❤️📚
